After getting ichigo shikai i didnt seem too inflict any more dmg than before

That was when Ichigo shikai was but button but now it should atleast be switched back to bankai or shikai into button form again.

You don't notice the increase of damage until later levels, where you're doing 1.5x your base damage. You'll see when you're doing like 2-4 k more than your attack.
